Was on the menu at an ice cream parlour in London. The breast milk was mixed with lemon zest and vanilla pods before being blended into a 24 dollar serving of ice cream. The owner describes the dish as “pure, free range, and organic,” which evokes images of women running around (chain-free) in fields, occasionally happily stopping for a quick pump. Sorry, that was borderline crass.
“We want to change the way people think about ice cream.”
“No-one’s done anything interesting with ice cream in the last hundred years.”
It’s pull quotes like these that make me want to return to journalism.
I guess enough people were grossed out enough to complain, and the aptly-named “Baby Gaga” ice cream was seized by health authorities a week later.
And while we’re on the topic, I’ve discovered an article about the many uses of breast milk. Breast milk can be used as a cure for:
– stuffy noses
– sore throats
– mosquito bites
– pink eye
And here’s my related video. Enjoy.
